It’s been a while since kids in the Chippewa Valley have been in school. Police in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls are reminding drivers that kids will be back in school next week. That means slowing down in school zones, and keeping focus on the road. Local schools are also reminding drivers to never pass a school bus with its stop sign out.
Private schools will not get a share of the coronavirus stimulus money ear-marked for education. A judge in Lansing, Michigan yesterday ruled the money from Congress is supposed to go to public schools that need it the most. Wisconsin is one of a handful of states that sued to block the money from being sent to private schools. Wisconsin A-G Josh Kaul said sending stimulus money to private schools would weaken the state’s public schools.
