WI CORONAVIRUS CASE COUNT TICKS UP, HOSPITALIZATIONS DOWN

Eau Claire County’s public health director says about a third of people who’ve recently tested positive for the coronavirus don’t know where they picked it up.

Lieske Giese yesterday said there’s been 100 new positive tests in the past two weeks. That brings Eau Claire County’s total to 240 since March. Giese did not say if any of the new cases have landed anyone in the hospital. She did say that 176 of those 240 people have fully recovered.

On the larger scene, here in our state the numbers for Wisconsin’s coronavirus count are on the same path they’ve been for weeks. More people are testing positive for the virus, but many more people are testing negative and the number of people in the hospital is falling.

The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported 540 new positive tests. There were also over 12-thousand negative tests. DHS says 237 people are in the hospital because of the coronavirus, with 77 in the ICU. Both of those numbers are down from last week.
