STIMULUS MONEY TO LAND AT WI AIRPORTS

Funding from the stimulus package passed recently in Washington will help airports in Wisconsin face financial challenges.

Central Wisconsin Airport will receive around four-million-dollars and Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport was awarded about one-million-dollars.  Wausau Airport has been forced to shut down its flight school and rental services during the COVID-19 crisis.  The money will be used to offset some of those losses.

La Crosse Regional Airport is receiving funding from the federal CARES Act to help with financial costs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive Director Ian Turner said the airport has seen a 90-to-95 percent revenue loss with nearly 25-passengers traveling each day compared to the usual 300 outgoing seats. The airport is receiving around one-point-seven-million-dollars in funding. Turner says the CARES Act funds will be used to make debt payments, pay utilities, and cover personnel expenses.
