Operations to remove a car from the bottom of the Chippewa River are suspended.
The Eau Claire Fire Department says crews worked on Saturday to remove the vehicle, but high-water levels created challenges that led to the suspension. The department says crews will continue working to remove the car when conditions are better.
Public Information Officer Bridget Coit says the car found early Friday morning was believed to have a driver, and police are working to locate that individual.
