A ground beef recall is underway in nine states, including here.
The USDA says about two-thousand pounds of raw ground beef packaged at Amity Packing in Chicago on January 6th may be tainted with plastic. The recalled products were shipped to retail stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
The packages being recalled are one pound vacuum-packed packages labeled “Pre 95% LEAN-5% FAT GROUND BEEF.” They have the lot code 0060 and a use or freeze by date of January 31st.
No injuries have been reported but the USDA says the products should either be thrown away or returned to the store for a refund.
