WI LOOKING AT BUDGET SURPLUS

WI LOOKING AT BUDGET SURPLUS

The state of Wisconsin should be looking at a 600 million-dollar surplus next summer.

The Legislative Fiscal Bureau yesterday said the state saw 818 million-dollars more in tax collections, and that should drive-up the state’s budget surplus. The state budget is set to run through next June.

Republicans at the statehouse in Madison say the state should use the extra money to cut taxes. Democrats want to see the state spend that money, perhaps on the University of Wisconsin System.
