The city council is set to vote tomorrow on a plan to replace about 800 lead pipes across the city. The fear is that lead pipes can be dangerous for some children. The proposal would have Eau Claire and homeowners split the cost of replacing pipes that run from the city’s water supply to their home. There could be a state grant for up to two-thousand-dollars per home, though it’s not clear how much the total cost to replace lead pipes will be.
