Madison will soon have its first ever Latina Poet Laureate.
The City Council announced on Thursday that it’s confirming Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway’s choice to appoint Angela Trudell Vasquez to the position. The third generation Mexican-American poet will start here two-year term on January 20th. Her first public reading is scheduled at A Room of One’s Own Bookstore on February sixth.
