LAWMAKERS LOOK TO CRACKDOWN ON DRUNK DRIVERS

Lawmakers in Madison are looking to get tougher on some drunk drivers in the state.

The state Senate yesterday approved a plan to require anyone who kills someone in a drunk driving crash spend at least five years in prison. Senators also approved a mandatory minimum sentence for someone’s fifth or sixth OWI.

Those drivers will now have to spend at least a year-and-a-half behind bars.
