People who are in this country illegally could be the next group added as a protected class in Wisconsin.
Some lawmakers in Madison are circulating a plan that would add immigration status to the list of things that landlords are banned from considering when renting an apartment or a home. Eau Claire Representative Jodi Emerson says there are some ‘nasty things’ being said about people who are in this country illegally. She says it’s a moral imperative that everyone in the state have the right to find a place to live.
