WI REPORT CARD SHOWS “ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT”

The nation’s report card has arrived and it shows Wisconsin struggling to close the achievement gap between black and white students. 

The National Assessment of Educational Progress released data last night showing results from math and reading tests given to fourth and eighth grade students over the last ten years.  In general Wisconsin students scored higher than the national average for math and reading.  But education officials consider the achievement gap experienced by African-American students to be a crisis and imperative for the state to remedy.
