Wisconsin’s governor says farmers in the state are already dealing with low prices and bad weather. They don’t need a trade war to make things worse. Governor Tony Evers yesterday wrote a letter to President Trump asking him to end the trade uncertainty that is hurting farmers in the state. The governor says farmers in Wisconsin want trade not aid, and need healthy trade agreements to make that happen.
On that note, cheesemakers in Wisconsin don’t expect things to get better anytime soon. The International Dairy Food Association says dairy sales are down 54-percent this year, mainly because of tariffs on milk and cheese that’s usually sold in China and Mexico. The state’s dairymen have said for months that they need a new trade deal with Canada and Mexico to turn things around.
