NEW CASES MOVE AHEAD AFTER OLD KIT TESTING

Prosecutors in eight Wisconsin counties are pushing ahead with nine sexual assault cases based on old DNA evidence.

Attorney General Josh Kaul yesterday said the cases all came from the backlog of sexual assault kits that sat on shelves for years.  Kaul says the state has tested over 13 hundred kits so far, and 35 have been sent to police for further investigation.  Nine of those have resulted in charges.
