The sheriff in Barron County is putting out a new warning about scammers after a round of recent scams.
Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald yesterday said scammers have hit his community for about 100-thousand-dollars in scams recently. Fitzgerald is reminding folks never to give anyone any money over the internet or over the phone. He says real utilities, real police departments, and the real IRS don’t call and demand a payment to avoid charges.
The sheriff says people also need to be very careful about calls from charities. He says only give to charities that you know are real.
