Lawyers for the young man accused of running down three Girl Scouts in Lake Hallie says there’s no way he can get a fair trial in Chippewa County.
Colten Treu’s lawyers this week asked the judge to move his trial to a different county. Chippewa County District Attorney Wade Newell said if they can’t pick an impartial jury in Chippewa Falls, he’d be open to bringing in a jury from somewhere else. But said he wants to keep the trial in Chippewa County. True is due back in court in the case on Friday.
