THE CASE WILL PROCEED

Lawyers for the man who police say ran down three Girl Scouts from Chippewa Falls say there’s no proof he was high at the time of the wreck.  Colten Treu’s lawyers on Friday said prosecutors cannot prove their claim that Treu was huffing air duster before police say he drove off the road and killed the girls and a mom who was helping them pick-up trash.  Treu was in court Friday for his preliminary hearing.  The judge says there is enough evidence to head to trial.

Our community lost 9-year-old Jayna Kelley, 10-year-old Autumn Helgeson, both of Lake Hallie, 10-year-old Haylee Hickle and her mother, 32-year-old Sara Jo Schneider, from Lafayette. A fifth person, Madalyn Zwiefelhofer, was injured in that crash.
