OUT OF THE VOTING BOOTH….CHECKING OUT HOW THE BOXES WERE CHECKED

Eau Claire has a new council president, again.  Terry Weld won last night’s election.  He beat current council president Andrew Werthmann by about 700 votes.  Werthmann took over the job last June.  Weld says it’s nice to see so many people in Eau Claire stepping up to support him.

The cardinals get a green light. Spring Valley is going to get a new school.  Voters yesterday approved a nearly 23 million-dollar referendum to build a new elementary school.  Just 723 people voted for the tax hike to pay for the school, 523 voted against.  School leaders say they need to replace Spring Valley Elementary School which was built in 1929.

No gavel drop quite yet….The conservative candidate for Wisconsin Supreme Court is in the lead, but the race is likely headed for a recount.  Brian Hagedorn ended last night’s vote count with a nearly 16-hundred vote lead.  That is close enough to allow liberal Judge Lisa Neubauer to request a recount.  State election managers say more than one-point-two million people voted in yesterday’s election.
