Some Republican members of Wisconsin’s Congressional delegation are joining Democrats in the criticism of President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency. Trump is using the declaration to obtain billions of dollars in funding for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. Potential 2020 presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke was in Wisconsin on Friday. O’Rourke spoke to students at Milwaukee Area Technical College and also to an audience at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The event in Madison was reportedly off-limits to most media members. O’Rourke, the former Texas congressman, has said he plans to announce his presidential intentions by the end of this month.
