Visit Eau Claire is putting its support behind building a convention center downtown. Yesterday,the organization released a study by a Chicago-based consulting firm that estimated the total cost of a 53-thousand square foot center would be just under 50-million dollars. The firm also recommended a 200-room hotel that would be connected to the center. Visit Eau Claire says there’s no timeline for construction but it hopes to move forward with some kind of plan sometime in 2019.
