Authorities are investigating two illegal elk shootings in Jackson and Monroe counties.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Bureau of Law Enforcement is looking to identify a suspect who allegedly shot an adult cow elk on Monday in Jackson County.
They are also looking into another case where an adult bull elk was shot after being misidentified by a deer hunter on Saturday near Warrens. That hunter came forward and the elk was seized. Authorities are stressing the importance of hunters being able to accurately identify their target.
