DNR FOLLOWS UP ON POACHING AHEAD OF WI GUN HUNT OPENER

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating reports of deer poaching in Eau Claire County.  A conservation warden with the DNR says he began getting reports about two weeks ago about gun shots late at night and half-butchered deer carcasses dumped in the woods.

The warden says poaching makes all hunters look bad in general, even ethical hunters.  But he mentions that he thinks the incidents are relatively rare.
