The Defense POW-MIA Accounting Agency in Washington, DC is announcing that the remains of a serviceman who was killed in World War Two are of a La Crosse native.
Navy Seaman First Class George Naegle was stationed on the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked in 1941, resulting in the deaths of over four-hundred crewmen, including Naegle. The Deputy Secretary of Defense ordered the unidentified remains of casualties from the Oklahoma to be disinterred in 2015, and Naegle was accounted for last month, according to the agency.
