It’s almost Fall, ya’ll! Visit Eau Claire announced the launch of its latest mobile pass, the ‘Fall Crawl’. The mobile pass features 23 locations and establishments throughout Eau Claire that highlight the fall season. This is the sixth mobile pass that Visit Eau Claire has launched through Bandwango, a technology company designed to support experiences created by destinations and marketed to visitors and locals. Wisconsin will receive 14-point-four million dollars from the settlement announced yesterday with Juul, a leading maker of e-cigarettes.  A bipartisan investigation found that Juul dominated the e-cigarette market by appealing to youth in its advertising.  E-cigarettes have been proven to be harmful to youth and it’s illegal for them to buy them.  The settlement totals at least 438-and-a-half million dollars among 34 states.  It also severely limits Juul’s marketing practices.   

Wisconsinites looking for a new dog lined up outside the Washington County Humane Society yesterday morning, hours before they opened.  They were hoping to adopt one of 47 puppies — and one adult dog — who had been rescued from an illegal shipping operation.  Authorities near Fond du Lac intercepted the illegal shipment that were bound for Texas over the weekend.  The suspect behind the operation is in custody.  The humane society was able to find forever homes for all

Maybe the third time will be the charm for Senator Tammy Baldwin’s effort to let everyone in Wisconsin see Packers games.  Baldwin has tried twice before to pass her bill, which would require satellite, cable and other companies to provide Wisconsin subscribers with access to programing from broadcast TV stations in a Wisconsin media market.  There are 13 counties in Wisconsin — mainly on the Minnesota-Wisconsin border or the Wisconsin-Michigan border — that are in TV markets that are out of state.   

Police are looking for the person responsible for stabbing two people in Sun Prairie yesterday morning.  Police say they found the victims after being called to a disturbance near Jones and West Main Streets around 3:00 a.m.  It’s still unclear if that’s where the stabbings happened.  One of the victims is expected to survive and the other has life threatening injuries.  Police say it doesn’t look like the attacks were random.

A Beloit man is facing federal charges after allegedly taking a child across state lines for sexual activity. Thirty-two-year-old Everett Wescott was indicted last month and arrested on Friday. He was arraigned in the U.S. District Court in Madison. Investigators say Wescott took a minor from Illinois to Wisconsin on March 19th. He is also accused of using his cell phone to create child pornography between January of 2020 and September of 2021. A detention hearing is set for Friday morning.

The Eau Claire City-County Health Department is making it easier to check your well water. Through September 15th, the Health Department will be offering discounted or free well water tests. Nitrate and bacteria tests will both be discounted by six dollars for everyone. If a home with a private well has a pregnant woman or a child younger than one-year-old living there, water testing can be done for free. The Health Department says homeowners with private wells should be testing

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is revoking the licenses from over 100 wholesale car dealers. The 129 companies comprised about one-eighth of the nearly a thousand wholesale dealers located at a facility in Arlington. Each of the dealers who lost their licenses was accused of failing to maintain business facilities and for not making records available, per state law, according to WisDOT.
