The man behind the wheel in the Wisconsin parade massacre has been found guilty.  It took the jury only a handful of hours to convict Darrell Brooks Jr. of intentional homicide after he plowed into a crowd of people at the Waukesha parade in November 2021.  He killed six people and injured over 60 others.

Video Serves As A Reminder to Drive Sober

It’s In The Hands Of The Jury

After hours of jury instructions and closing arguments, the jury in the Waukesha Christmas Parade trial had the case for about 90 minutes last night. Jurors asked to see a few exhibits before calling it a night. Darrell Brooks Jr. is facing life in prison if convicted for the attack that killed six people and injured over 60 others. Local Managers Prepare For High Voter Turnout

Fond Du Lac Co. Man Facing Voter Fraud Charges

A Fond du Lac County man is looking at voter fraud charges after prosecutors say he voted twice in 2020.  The D.A. says Edward Malnar voted in both Wisconsin and Michigan in the 2020 election.  The state’s Elections Commission says it caught Malnar’s double-vote during a cross-check with the national voter database.  No one is saying who Malnar voted for in that election.

It’s a GO For Costco

Costco got the greenlight from Eau Claire’s city council.  City council members last night unanimously voted to approve the new Costco store for the city’s northeast side.  The new store will be built on Black Avenue.  The hope is to start work next year, and maybe have the new Costco open before the start of 2024.

Logo Triggers Lawsuit in Political Campaign

There’s a lawsuit over a small piece of one of the campaign commercials in Wisconsin’s governor’s race.  Froedtert Health is suing Republican Tim Michels because one of Michels’ ads includes the hospital’s logo.  The ad features Michels’ 15 million-dollar donation to the hospital from back in the spring, but it also includes some of Froedter’s branding.  The hospital says its status as a non-profit prohibits it from being part of any political campaign.  Froedtert is asking a judge to order Michels

Local Governments Seek Funding

Local governments across Wisconsin are, once again, pressing for more state money.  The League of Wisconsin Municipalities yesterday said many cities in the state are looking at local funding shortfalls.  The League says if lawmakers don’t increase the state’s shared revenue, they will be forced to ask voters for local tax increases.  The League’s president said Wisconsin has a ‘broken system of funding local government.’ State lawmakers have opposed giving cities and counties more state money, saying many communities don’t spend what they have responsibly.

Oh, Deer! Plans Move Forward For Deer District

Plans for a new live music venue in the Deer District are one step closer to reality. A Milwaukee common council committee yesterday okayed the zoning changes for the new venue. The full council will vote on the plan next week. There continues to be stiff opposition to the plan, many of Milwaukee’s other live music venues say they don’t need any more competition. Live Nation and the Bucks are driving the effort for the new venues.
