Governor Evers and Republican leaders Thursday announced a local government funding agreement that would see a 20-percent increase in aid to communities across the state. Lawmakers say the bills will lead to a significant increase in resources for public safety, especially in rural communities that have had to rely on volunteers and dwindling resources in recent years.

Scott promised eight-million-dollars to Reach Out and Read, an organization that specializes in reading skills for early childhood development. Read MoreThere are formal charges against the man accused of stabbing his mother in the neck in Barron County earlier this week. Prosecutors filed attempted first degree intentional homicide charges against 30-year-old Michael Townsend yesterday. The Barron County sheriff says Townsend stabbed his mom in the neck after the two argued about money. The mom was flown to Mayo in Eau Claire, Townsend was arrested. He’s being held on 50 thousand-dollars cash bail.
