On September 16, 2025 Abrham Lee Boebel m/u 7/13/04 attempted to cash a fraudulent check at Westconsin Credit Union. Boebel was in possession of a counterfeit check made out to him. Boebel advised he was picked up at a Salvation Army in La Crosse by three unknown black males where he was propositioned to cash checks that were made out to him. A white, 2025 Toyota RAV4 with MN plates SJJ-913 was identified as the suspect’s vehicle. Rental information returns

The Local Store in downtown Eau Claire (205 N. Dewey St.) held a School Lunch Drive fundraiser during the first week of September in support of the Eau Claire Area School District’s “School Meal Help Fund.”  Throughout the first week of September (Sept. 1-7), customers – and any community members – could donate the average price of a school meal ($2.75) at the register, or online. Sentencing is being ordered for a man convicted on kidnapping and weapons charges.  Mark Dickensen and another man — according to authorities — broke into a Fairchild home last year and held someone at gunpoint as they went through the residence.  Dickensen was sentenced yesterday to serve six years in prison.

A La Crosse woman is learning her fate after having been convicted in a human trafficking case.  Twenty-nine-year-old Shantylle Kibler was recently found guilty on charges including two counts of solicitation of prostitutes. She has been ordered to serve five years of probation.  

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a recent motorcycle accident involving a 75-year-old rider.  The Pewaukee woman was hurt in the September 7th incident when her three-wheeled motorcycle hit a deer on State Highway 131.  She suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Western Wisconsin Republican Congressman Derrick Van Orden is calling for federal funds to be withheld from select communities including Eau Claire.  The move comes in response to social media posts by two Eau Claire City Council members that have been interpreted by some as condoning or supporting the recent killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.  Van Orden is putting forward a bill in Congress that would prohibit federal funding for entities that employ individuals who condone and celebrate political violence
