Deadly Jackson Co. Crash Under Investigation

One person is dead following a Monday morning vehicle crash in Jackson County.  The accident happened shortly after 1 a.m. on State Highway 71 near the line with Monroe County.  Authorities say the driver lost control near Cabin Avenue and hit a ditch and then a tree.  They died at the scene.

La Crosse Crews Respond to Home Fire

Investigators are working to determine the cause of a Monday evening house fire in La Crosse.  Crews were dispatched to a multi-story home on Market Street around 5:30 p.m.  Residents were able to safely self-evacuate and firefighters were able to remove pet birds without harm.

Eau Claire Bus Stops Begin ADA Enhancements

Construction is beginning in and around Eau Claire bus stops.  The City Manager’s Office confirms the work involves ADA improvements for nearly 50 bus stops in the area including the installation of wheelchair-friendly enhancements.  The cost is being covered through federal grants.

Former State Senate Candidate Announces Run

A former state senate candidate is now running for Secretary of State.  Collin McNamara launched his bid for the position on Monday.  McNamara is an alum of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.  He’s also a member of the Portage and Waupaca County Democratic Parties.  A candidate in the state senate race last year, McNamara says he gained support from Republicans in his district.

988 Day, Mental Health Resources Highlighted

It’s 988 Day in Wisconsin, a statewide observance recognizing mental health resources in the state.  988 Day falls on September 8th annually.  Most recent numbers from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services says the 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline saw a 15-percent increase in calls this July compared to the same time last year.  The hotline gives free, confidential support for suicide, mental health, or substance use crises.

A new map features a statewide route connecting restaurants and supper clubs serving Wisconsin’s best prime rib. The Wisconsin Beef Council is calling the route the 2025 Prime Rib Trail. The guide includes hidden gems in small towns and popular joints for both residents and travelers. EC County Plans Last Clean Sweep of 2025

  Eau Claire County is partnering with WRR Environmental to host the  third and final Clean Sweep event of 2025. The event will take place on September 20th  from 8AM-12PM at 5200 Ryder Road in Eau Claire. Cadott Man Picks Up 4th OWI

Mark Dominguez, 47 years of age, from Cadott has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 4th offense, with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16.  On September 7, 2025, the Wisconsin State Patrol and Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on 250th St. at County Road O. Pedestrian Struck, Investigation Continues

Authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed Saturday in Waupaca County.  Reports say the driver of an SUV hit someone who was walking in the roadway on County Highway Q.  The victim died at the scene.
