Each year in Wisconsin more than 100,000 pounds of medication is collected at Drug Take Back Day events which are held in April and October, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). That’s the same weight as two full-sized snowplows. What can’t be measured, however is the number of lives potentially saved because of these events. HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital is encouraging community members to help boost that number even more during the National Drug Take Back event

The north boat landing on Lake Eau Claire, off from ND Circle, will be closed to all traffic beginning Monday morning October 23rd. The boat landing approach and ramp is being reconstructed and will be inaccessible to boats and vehicles during the construction. Wildwood Zoo is pleased to announce the arrival of “Jasper”, a male red fox. He is about 6 months old and is a lighter “true” red in coloring. A jury has acquitted a former UW-Eau Claire official on child sexual assault charges. The jury came back with not guilty verdicts yesterday against Timothy Boehnen. Investigators say he allegedly touched five children inappropriately. Boehnen always said he never did anything wrong, and testified in his own defense at trial. He was the director of risk management at UW-Eau Claire in 2020 when he was charged, he resigned from that job.

The father of a dead, decomposing Milwaukee 12-year-old who was found in a house last week is a wanted man. A judge yesterday signed off on a warrant for Romuan Moye’s arrest. He is Jakari Robinson’s father. Robinson is the boy whose body was found decomposing in the living room of a house in Milwaukee. The medical examiner says the boy weighed just 54 pounds, and showed signs of serious injuries. His exact manner of death has not yet been

Prosecutors in Dane County are asking for misdemeanor charges against the man arrested earlier this month at the Wisconsin Capitol after he brought a pistol and a rifle to see the governor. The DA’s office charged 43-year-old Joshua Pleasnick yesterday for carrying a firearm in a public building. Capitol Police arrested Pleasnick back on October 4th when he showed up at the Capitol with a gun on his hip and a dog on a leash, and demanded to speak to

Investigators say a Whitewater man beat and strangled a woman, and held her against her will for days.  Police said they arrested 18-year-old Yefferson Guzman-Rodriguez yesterday morning after a days long investigation. Whitewater’s police chief says they got a call that Guzman-Rodriguez was holding a woman in his home. Officers say the woman told them Guzman-Rodriguez held a gun to her head, and at one point choked her unconscious. Guzman-Rodriguez is now looking at tentative charges for kidnapping, false imprisonment,

The Barron County Sheriff’s Department is telling people that the office is not calling up and demanding a thousand-dollars for a court-ordered DNA test. Yesterday, the sheriff’s office took to Facebook to warn of a scam that’s spreading around.  Officials say scammers call people up, claim they’re with the sheriff’s office, then tell people they have to take a court ordered DNA test and pay a thousand-dollars with a gift card or else they will be arrested. The state of Wisconsin once again has billions of dollars in the bank at the end of the year. Governor Ever’s office yesterday said the state ended fiscal year 2023 with a seven billion-dollar surplus. The surplus at the end of fiscal year 2022 was just four billion-dollars. The governor’s office says Wisconsin also has one point-eight billion in its rainy day fund. Republican lawmakers say the huge budget surplus is a result of their fiscal policies. The governor says
