Nurses Strike Over, Contract Ratified

The nurses’ strike against UnityPoint Health-Meriter is over.  SEIU nurses have ratified a new two-year contract after a five day strike. The new contract includes wage increases, tuition assistance, and childcare support. Locally, the healthcare picture is changing as OakLeaf Clinics will be relocating two of its clinics this month.  The Rice Lake clinical team will operate out of a new facility at 29-hundred Wisconsin Avenue today.  The Cornell clinical team will relocate to Chippewa Falls on June ninth.  OakLeaf

ALS Walk Raises Awareness, Funding

WI Troops Deploy

Six-hundred Wisconsin National Guard soldiers from Oshkosh are being deployed.  A send-off ceremony was held yesterday at UW-Oshkosh.  The soldiers are traveling to eventually work with America’s NATO allies in the U.S. Central Command.  The group will help promote security and stability in the region.

Lawyer Threatened, Investigation Underway

Police are investigating after the lawyer representing the man accused of killing a young Milwaukee woman received a death threat.  The Waukesha Police Department says someone called Anthony Cotton’s law office and threatened to kill members of his family if he didn’t drop the Maxwell Anderson case.  Anderson is accused of murdering and dismembering Sade Robinson in April of 2024 and scattering her body parts across Milwaukee County.  Anderson faces a first-degree intentional homicide charge, and his just trial started
