Chase Leads to Arrest, Squad Car Fire

During a multiple county car chase, a Monroe County squad car burst up in flames. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said that they were assisting in the chase of a suspect who was wanted by the Wisconsin Probation and Parole. When the chase ended, the suspect bolted out of the car and a foot chase began. As officers were chasing him on foot, a squad car started on fire. The suspect was caught a short time later. No injuries were reported.

Arson Suspect Appears in Court, Fraud Charges

An Eau Claire man who is accused of burning down his own bar and grill back in 2021, made his first court appearance. The man is being charged with one count of arson of a building with the intent of committing fraud. This is a class C felony. According to court documents, the man’s lawyer tried to dismiss the case, but it was denied. The man is out on a 10-thousand-dollar signature bond and will be in court next on

Man Sentenced for Meth Distribution

A 39 year old man from Eau Claire is sentenced in federal court for selling meth. Corey Hobbs was sentenced yesterday to 110 months in prison for three counts of distributing methamphetamine. Parking Goes Up in Downtown La Crosse

Parking in downtown La Crosse is going to get a little more expensive. Four parking ramps have charged their hours and added another day. Over the last few years, the price has been one dollar an hour from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and free after that until 6 a.m. Now to park it still cost one dollar, but the hours have been extended. The new hours are Monday through Saturday 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Bond Set at $2 Million

A two-million-dollar cash bail is set for the man accused of abducting a pregnant Wisconsin teen and leaving the state.  Forty-year-old Gary Day faced a judge in Dodge County Court today for child abduction and child enticement charges.  Police say the teen was missing for nearly two months. She’s five-months pregnant with Day’s child.  The judge is ordering Day to have no contact with the girl, her family, or any other minors, citing his extreme flight risk.

Data Shows Rise in Congenital Syphilis Cases

New numbers show congenital syphilis rates are rising in Wisconsin, while other sexually transmitted infections are decreasing. Congential syphilis’s is passed down to a fetus during pregnancy, and results in stillbirths, death, or health complications for newborns. The Department of Health Services says there were 31 cases of congential syphilis detected last year statewide, up six cases from the year before. Cheese Sculptor Heads to Titletown

A Madison cheese sculptor will attend the ‘Taste of the Draft’ in Green Bay April 23rd.  Vicki Janisch says she learned cheese carving from her dairy farmer roots. She plans to create a Lombardi Trophy from Wisconsin cheddar. The event is a fundraiser for the non profit GENYOUth, working to end student hunger.

Accused Kidnapper Returns to WI to Face Charges

The man accused of kidnapping a pregnant Beaver Dam teen is back in Wisconsin. Gary Day was extradited yesterday to the state. Day faces charges of child abduction and child enticement in Dodge County after 17-year-old Sophia Franklin went missing in February. The 40-year-old is believed to be the father of the teen’s unborn child. Authorities arrested Day earlier this month at an Omaha truck stop when they saw him and Franklin traveling together.
