We’re waiting for more details about a fire last night along Mitchell Road. Crews rushed to the scene, and reporters say there was heavy smoke billowing out of a shed. There are no reports of any injuries. Firefighters may have more answers later today about the blaze.

Multiple Vehicles, Injuries in Sheboygan Co. Crash

Five people are recovering after a crash on I-43 in Sheboygan County.  It happened about 3:30 yesterday afternoon near the Town of Sheboygan.  The State Patrol says three cars were involved in the wreck.  A 38-year-old woman with two children from Brown County, and a 19-year-old from Manitowoc were all taken to the hospitals for their injuries.  Two other people were treated at the scene.  Troopers say slick roads and at least one driver who wasn’t paying attention are to

Jewelry Heist Remains Under Investigation

The robbery of a West Allis jeweler sounds like something out of a Hollywood script. Police say thieves cut the power at JP Haase before climbing on to the roof, breaking in, and walking out with 520 thousand-dollars worth of gold and jewels. The robbery happened last September, the revelations are part of a newly unsealed warrant. EC Energy Co-Op Urges Energy Conservation

There’s a warning about using too much power from the Eau Claire Energy Co-op. The Cooperative’s Adam Westaby yesterday said there is only so much power available each day, and when it’s cold outside people tend to use more power. The Co-op yesterday asked people to not use their electric water heater, heat pump, or boiler. Sweet Upgrade for Lemonade Stands?

Wisconsin lawmakers are looking to legalize lemonade stands for kids.  A Senate panel will hold a hearing today on a plan that would stop local governments from requiring kids and teens under 18 from needing a license to open-up a lemonade stand, or something similar.  The proposal says as long as the stand is ‘operated only occasionally,’ and doesn’t sell ‘potentially hazardous food,’ then kids can open-up a stand as they see fit.

Lawmakers to Vote on Strip Search Rules

Wisconsin lawmakers are looking to update the rules for strip searching students in the state’s schools. DHS Warns of Student Self Harm

Cases of young people self-harming rise after breaks from school end in Wisconsin. The state Department of Health Services says in the months of September 2022 and January 2023, both of which follow extended breaks from the classroom, there was a 40-percent increase in youth self-harm cases compared to the months before. In September of 2023, data shows a smaller spike of 14-percent, but still encourages caregivers to be aware and not ignore any concerning signs.

Woman Sentenced in Animal Abuse Case

A Wisconsin woman is sentenced to 18 months in jail after almost 200 goats were found deceased on her farm. Both Stephanie and Kyle Lincicum of Darlington were charged last June with 40 counts each of animal abuse and theft. Stephanie Lincicum pleaded guilty yesterday to 21 counts, and as part of a plea deal twenty of her counts are now dismissed.
