Prosecutors in Barron County are clearing officers in a deadly officer-involved shooting last month in Rice Lake. The Barron County DA’s Office yesterday said the officers who shot and killed Zachary Veitch back on October 8th were justified. Investigators say Veitch had just stabbed one person in the apartment where he lived, and tried to stab another. Officers fired when they say Veitch came at them with a knife as well. There are charges for a New Richmond man for a deadly crash last February. Prosecutors yesterday filed homicide charges against 20-year-old Isaiah Moody. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says Moody killed 18-year-old Masen Powell from Spring Valley when he crossed the centerline on Highway 65 near Alden. Investigators say Moody told them he smoked pot the day of the crash. Deputies say he was going about 115 miles-per-hour just before the crash.

Wisconsin’s lieutenant governor says she’s impressed by the tiny-home community for Chippewa Falls’ homeless. Lt. The plan to guarantee seats at UW schools to top-performing Wisconsin students is up for a vote at the Capitol today. The proposal would automatically give a spot at any University of Wisconsin school, including UW Madison, to kids who either graduate in the top five percent of their class, or score in the top five percent on the ACT in Wisconsin. The University of Wisconsin says it is giving Republican lawmakers exactly what they asked for. Brewer fans aren’t feeling much love for Craig Counsell after he decided to take a new managing job with the Chicago Cubs. Counsell yesterday made the surprise announcement. The Cubs will reportedly pay him about eight million-dollars a-year to take over their team. Brewers’ owner Mark Attanasio says he could never finish the deal with Counsell, even though he wanted him to stay. Attanasio says Counsell has “lost us, and lost our community.”
