Car Companies Warn of Issues

Add this to the worries for Kia and Hyundai drivers in Wisconsin. The car companies are asking owners to park their cars outside until they deal with a looming recall over a fire risk. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says some Kia and Hyundai models could have a leak in their brake systems, that leak could lead to an electrical short, and that could cause a fire. Bill Proposes Limitations on Gun Ownership

A new law is being proposed that would ban anyone convicted of violent offenses from buying or possessing guns in Wisconsin. The bill’s supported by State Senator Kelda Roys and State Representative Lisa Subeck, both of Madison.  The idea is supported by Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul.   The bill reorganizes disorderly conduct and the definition of domestic abuse, so that someone convicted of disorderly conduct as a result of domestic abuse would be banned from buying or having guns.

Well Water Applications Expand

Applications for grant programs to help private well owners in Wisconsin will be accepted until December 6 of next year or when money runs out. Governor Tony Evers says the Well Compensation and Well Abandonment Grant Programs are providing ten-million dollars in assistance to help well owners address contamination. Money can go toward replacement, reconstruction, treatment, or abandoning impacted wells. Kickoff for the Wisconsin Badger football game at Minnesota November 25 is now set, for 2:30pm.   The Badgers will travel to Minneapolis to play the Gophers in the most-played rivalry in college football.  The Gophers have claimed Paul Bunyan’s Axe the past two seasons.  The Badgers host the Nebraska Cornhuskers this weekend.

One of the Midwest’s largest grocery and convenience store chains is closing on Thanksgiving Day. Iowa-based Hy-Vee says it’s closing more than 550 grocery, convenience, and wine-and-spirit stores across its eight-state region for the holiday. Hy-Vee says it’s closing on Thanksgiving to give the company’s more than 75-thousand employees the chance to spend the day with their families.

Investigation Continues, Bike Rider Injured in Menomonie Crash

On 11/12/23 at approximately 1 pm, the Menomonie Police Department and Menomonie Fire and Rescue responded to the area of Walmart in North Menomonie, for a report of a car striking a person that was riding a bicycle. The male subject that was riding the pedal bicycle was transported by med- flight helicopter from the scene with serious injuries. After further investigation by officers, it was determined that the subject traveling by bicycle was traveling eastbound through the Synergy Cooperative

New Helipad to Serve Our Rural Areas

The new helipad for rural Rusk and Chippewa counties is now open. Leaders cut the ribbon yesterday on the landing area in Lake Holcombe. Town of Lake Holcombe Chairman Brian Guthman says the new helipad will allow paramedics to get to rural parts of the two counties much faster.
