Deadly Polk Co. Accident Under Investigation

On August 10, 2025, at approximately 3:13 pm, the Wisconsin State Patrol and Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a truck pulling a trailer and a motorcycle on County Highway I near the intersection of 90th Street. Upon arrival it was discovered that the motorcycle operator, 70 year old Rodney Bodell from Rush City, MN was deceased. Crews Respond to Mississippi River Rescue

Officers with the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office were called into action Sunday morning on the Mississippi River.  A call came in just before 9 a.m. regarding a 75-year-old man experiencing cardiac arrest on an island.  First responders reached the island by boat and took the man to a hospital for care.  There has been no update on his status.

WI Hikers Struck by Lightening

Two hikers at Kettle Moraine State Forest lost consciousness after a lightning strike Saturday.  Palmyra Fire rescue received reports of a man not breathing around 4:14 p.m.  Crews were able to find the man and another woman who was also affected by a lightning strike.  Both hikers were safely taken from the scene.  Officials determined the couple was standing by a tree struck by lightning, and felt the effects through a ground current.

MKE Declares State of Emergency After Heavy Rains

Nearly a thousand We Energies customers are still without electricity following severe weather conditions this past weekend.  Southeast Wisconsin was subjected to heavy rainfall Saturday, with some communities seeing several inches of rain.  We Energies says they are actively working on fixing outages. Governor Tony Evers approved National Guard assistance for Milwaukee County Sunday night following historic flooding in the region.  Milwaukee saw 14 inches of rain at Timmerman Airport over the weekend.  Evers says his office is monitoring flooding

Soldiers Return Home

Over 250 soldiers came back from deployment Saturday afternoon.  Members of the Wisconsin Army National Guard 1st Battalion were welcomed back at Chippewa Valley Regional Airport. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says human remains were discovered in a manure pit.  Officers responded to a call about “a suspicious circumstance in a manure pit”.  It happened yesterday in the 2100 block of STH 19.  This investigation is ongoing.

Storm System Brings Heavy Rain, Closes WI State Fair

A storm system is bringing a flood threat to parts of the upper Mississippi River Valley this weekend.  Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in the region.  Areas between Des Moines and Chicago are forecast to see the worst of it, with parts of Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri and Iowa all on watch for excessive rainfall.  Some thunderstorms may be severe with heavy winds and tornadoes possible as well.  The flood threat is expected to last through
