A Madison man who was wanted for bail jumping is likely facing new charges after attacking some Madison police officers. Police arrested 23-year-old Angel Jones Saturday night. During that arrest, the officers say Jones allegedly fought with them and the incident left two officers injured. Madison Police say Jones reportedly spit in the face of a third officer. Jones was wanted on bail jumping charges, he now could face resisting arrest and assaulting an officer charges.

Santa didn’t leave any winning Powerball tickets in anyone’s stockings this year. The lottery says no one won last night’s 638 million-dollar grand prize. That means the jackpot will grow to at least 685 million for Wednesday’s drawing. Someone in California, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania did win a million-dollars from last night’s drawing. It could be 10 years in prison for a Janesville man caught with a camper full of what the FBI says are bomb-making materials. James Morgan was in federal court in Madison on Friday. The FBI says they found explosives and other bomb pieces when they searched his trailer last Thursday. Investigators say they got a tip about Morgan. He’s due back in court on Friday for a detention hearing.

Shane Helmbrecht will wait until February to see if he will go to trial. A judge last week ordered Helmbrecht’s latest competency hearing be pushed back. Helmbrecht was originally found unfit for trial in the 2016 death of his neighbor. He was sentenced to a state mental hospital, but then left a halfway house earlier this year and fled to Mexico. He’s back in Eau Claire, and prosecutors are considering filing charges once again.

There’s no downtime in the effort to redraw Wisconsin’s political maps. The state Supreme Court on Friday tossed-out the old maps, and ordered new ones drawn. Today, experts will start talking to Republicans, Democrats, and advocates about just what information they need to create new maps. The legislature is supposed to have new maps for the state’s senators and representatives drawn by January 12th. The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a structure fire this afternoon on the West side of Eau Claire.Engine 9 arrived to find fire showing from the rear of the structure and smoke throughout the residence. Crews initiated an interior attack on the fire, performed a primary search for occupants, and ventilated the structure.
