WI Civics Bee Extends Essay Deadline

WMC Foundation and four local Wisconsin chambers of commerce, in collaboration with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USCCF), are pleased to announce the extension of the essay submission deadline for the Wisconsin Civics Bee.  Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades are encouraged to apply to participate in one of the four regional Wisconsin Civics Bees held in Appleton, Eau Claire, Racine, or Wausau by submitting an essay on the importance of civic engagement. High Court Not Revisiting Map Arguments

Wisconsin’s Supreme Court will not reconsider its ruling that tossed-out the state’s political maps. The new liberal-majority court yesterday ruled 4-3 against a request from Republican lawmakers to listen to arguments again. The court didn’t offer an explanation with its decision. The ruling means new maps are due to the court today. After that, experts hired by the court will either issue a report on new political maps, or will draw new political maps of their own. GO PACK GO Act Rushes Down Political Field

Green Bay’s Republican congressman is now pushing for statewide Packer broadcasts. Congressman Mike Gallagher yesterday signed-on to the Go Pack Go Act. It’s a plan that’s been floating around for years that would guarantee everyone in Wisconsin could see the Packers games on TV. Chase Leads to Crash in Creek

A Milwaukee police chase ended with both an officer and the suspect crashing into a creek. It happened yesterday morning along Teutonia Avenue. The MPD says an officer was chasing a suspect in a stolen car who was wanted in connection to the abduction of a seven-year-old girl the day before. Police Search for Tips in Murder of Delivery Man

One of Milwaukee’s murder this week appears to be a robbery gone wrong. Police say 33-year-old Antoine Gee Jr was killed Wednesday night while delivering pizzas. He took an order to a house near Sherman and Congress about 10:30 Wednesday night. That’s when police say someone tried to rob him, then shot him dead. Milwaukee Police aren’t saying anything about suspects in the case, but are asking anyone who may know anything to please come forward.

Swing and a Miss for Brewer’s Autograph Session

It’s going to be too wintry for the Brewers’ winter warm-up this weekend. The Brewers yesterday pulled the plug on tomorrow’s autograph session with the players. The Brewers’ Rick Schlesinger says they made the decision after realizing just how difficult it would be to fly players into Milwaukee. Sunday’s kids’ clinic is still on, but it will feature former Brewers’ players and staffers, not the current stars.

YMCA Lifeguard Training Makes Splash

Stabbing Suspect Headed to Trial

An Eau Claire County man is headed to trial at the end of the month to determine if he was mentally ill at the time of a 2021 stabbing and standoff. Adam Langiewicz of Boyd pleaded no contest on Wednesday to a charge of reckless injury against an elder victim.
