Two Wisconsin cities have ranked in the U.S. News & World Report list of the “Best Places to Live for Quality of Life in the U.S. in 2023-2024.”  Green Bay and Madison both ranked in the top ten based on factors like resident well being, housing affordability, job market index and more. Green Bay ranked seventh and Madison finished in third, respectively.

Electric and Hybrid Cars to Have New Plate Sticker

Owners of electric and hybrid cars will be receiving a new plate sticker.  It is required by law to add the stickers to the car and they will arrive in the mail by June.  The stickers are needed as a way to help first responders deal with electric vehicles in emergency situations. Man Charged With Killing Elkhorn Couple In Bar Appears In Court

A man arrested and accused of shooting and killing an Elkhorn couple at a sports bar will make his first court appearance today. Witnesses at Sports Page Bar just after midnight on February 1st say a man was using a video game machine at the bar when he stood up and fired his gun. New Charges Filed in Chippewa Threats Case

A Minnesota man out on bond for allegedly threatening to shoot up the Chippewa County Courthouse is accused of making more threats.  Prosecutors this week filed new charges against Harley Alcala, saying he threatened to kill the lawyer working on his case.  He was arrested last year after police said he made threats on social media the night before a hearing.  He was released on 20 thousand-dollars bond and now lives in Texas.  It’s unclear when he will be brought

WI American Girl Headquarters Set to Close

American Girl is closing its headquarters in Middleton. The company yesterday said about 30 people will lose their jobs in the move. Some of those people will be working their last day today, while others will stay on the job til September. Officials in Milling Plant Explosion Headed to Prison

A pair of officials who oversaw the Didion Milling plant are heading to prison for covering-up after their plant blew-up back in 2017. A judge yesterday sentenced Didion’s VP of Operations Derrick Clark, and  the company’s former food safety superintendent Shawn Mesner to two years in prison. Reckless Driver Law Moves Forward

The plan to send reckless drivers who kill someone to prison in Wisconsin is a big step closer to becoming law.  The Wisconsin Assembly approved it from state Rep. Bob Donovan yesterday.  The plan would create a mandatory minimum sentence for certain drivers in deadly crashes.  Donovan says reckless driving has become a problem that can no longer be ignored in Wisconsin, but especially in and around Milwaukee.
