The 16-year-old inmate at Lincoln Hills who is accused of killing a teacher there is now looking at formal charges. Prosecutors in Lincoln County yesterday filed second-degree reckless homicide against Javarius Hurd. Deputies say the cow broke through a fence and hasn’t let anyone get close since. The state Department of Natural Resources says the mapping application will show state-owned trails, lakeshores, and rivers, along with state parks and county forests. The DNR says the map is simpler than earlier editions and will be kept up to date. The map is available through the Public Access Lands Atlas app and on the DNR’s website.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says four of the hunters will be able to hunt in the Black River Elk Zone. It’s the first year the zone has been available since elk were reintroduced in Wisconsin. More than 17-thousand hunters sent in applications, and winners were chosen at random.
