Search For Stabbing Suspect Continues

The sheriff in Eau Claire is looking for a stabbing suspect. The stabbing happened last week in Fairchild. Deputies are not saying what led-up to the stabbing, or if anything was taken. Investigators are asking anyone who may have a doorbell camera to check their footage. In the meantime, the sheriff’s office says there’s no danger to the public in the case. Fallen Deputy Remembered, Highway Dedicated

There is another memorial to one of western Wisconsin’s fallen deputies. Leaders in St, Croix County on Saturday dedicated a portion of Highway 128 in honor of Deputy Kaitie Leising. She was gunned down during a traffic stop last May. St. Croix County’s sheriff says the new highway means Leising will be remembered forever. Cinder City Council Spot Open

Altoona is looking for people to fill an open spot on the city council. There is an opening for the city’s third council district, which includes the fourth and fifth wards. That person will have to live in the distinct. Anyone who is interested needs to apply with the city by June 26th.

WI Elections Commission Meets, Preps Ballots

It’s a busy week for the Wisconsin Elections Commission this week. The commission is meeting today to decide ballot access questions in 10 different races across the state. Commissioners are also looking to certify the ballot for both the August primary and the November general election. The Elections Commission is also scheduled to meet on Wednesday to deal with election clerk training.

Swissconsin Parties with Polkafest

The sound of polka music was filling the streets of New Glarus this weekend. The two-day Polkafest celebrating the Swiss heritage of the village south of Madison wrapped up Saturday with a variety of polka bands, local beers, and its popular Beer, Bacon & Cheese event. The Polkafest was made possible by sponsors like the Bank of New Glarus and the New Glarus Brewing Company.

Curtain Raises at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Theater

The theater at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin has reopened. The Hillside Theater at the architect’s home in Spring Green had been undergoing restoration and was reopened Saturday in honor of Wright’s birthday. A quartet from Chicago performed a sold-out show at the theater to celebrate the reopening. Taliesin was named a World Heritage Site in 2019. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE.

Bar Fight Turns Deadly in Capitol City

A man is dead after an altercation outside a Madison bar.  The Madison Police Department says multiple people called 911 after hearing gunshots on the 1300 block of Williamson Street early Friday morning.  Officers responded and found a 27-year-old man dead at the scene and dozens of shell casings in  the street.  Police believe the fight started inside the bar and spilled out into the street, and that the victim was targeted.  No arrests have been made and the suspect

Vos Says Recall Efforts Have Failed Again

Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says a second attempt to recall him has failed.  WISC says Vos released a statement Friday claiming the recall organizers collected fraudulent signatures and allowed some people to sign multiple times.  Vos claims that thousands of signatures were collected from outside the 63rd Assembly District and that hundreds were collected outside of the 60-day deadline.

Turkey Season in Top Five on Record

It’s the fourth highest spring turkey hunting season on record in Wisconsin. The state Department of Natural Resources says hunters registered more than 50-thousand turkeys this year. That’s more than 20-percent more than the average season. The turkey season started in mid-April and ended at the end of May. The deadline to register for a license for next year’s season is in December.
