The Wisconsin Supreme Court is restoring the right to vote using ballot drop boxes statewide. The method was prohibited in a 2022 ruling by the then-conservative Supreme Court. The ruling doesn’t require election Clerk’s offices to provide the drop boxes, but allows them to at their discretion. Almost 530 drop boxes in 66 counties were used during the 2020 presidential election.

One person who died in a head-on crash in Polk County has been identified. The county Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened on Monday just before noon on State Highway 63. An SUV crossed the center line and hit a passenger car, killing the driver. That deceased is identified as 72-year-old Bradley Niemann of Baldwin. The SUV driver also sustained critical injuries.

The visit is the latest from either the president, the vice president, or the first lady to the state. Wisconsin is, of course, one of the key states in this year’s presidential election. The latest Marquette Law School Poll gives the president a two-point lead among likely voters in the state.

The Juneau County cabin that burned and killed six people didn’t have a rental permit. Authorities say the cabin, which was regularly listed on Airbnb, was never licensed or inspected for rental. Six people died in the fire at the camp in Necedah last week. No one is saying just what caused the fire, or whether a rental permit would have avoided the fire. The local health department says people have to have an inspection as part of their licensing,

Authorities in Two Rivers say they don’t want people to stop searching for Elijah Vue. Police in the city say the searches from volunteers are one of the key pieces to their investigation into the little boy’s disappearance. Elijah went missing back in February after spending a few days with his mother’s boyfriend. Two Rivers police say they don’t want people to forget about the case. It was a violent Fourth of July in Milwaukee. Police in the city say five people were shot yesterday, one of them died. The deadly shooting happened about 10:45 last night on North 25th. Police say there was an argument, then someone pulled out a gun and shot a 42-year-old. Milwaukee Police say they did not make an arrest in the case.

The idea is to let people try as many local, Wisconsin beers as they’d like and maybe land on a new favorite in the process. There’s a new men’s champion and a new women’s record in the July 4th hot dog eating contest in Coney Island. Patrick Bertoletti has secured the mustard belt, scarfing down 58 dogs and buns in ten minutes. The 39-year-old Illinois native likely wouldn’t have had a chance if 16-time champ Joey Chestnut, with a record of 76 dogs, hadn’t bowed out this year over his deal with a vegan brand.
