Investigation Continues into Red Cedar Lake Drowning

On Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 2:36pm the Barron County 911 Center received a 911 call of an adult male that had went into the water below the Mikana Dam to help a child struggling in the water. The kids had gotten safely out but the male was unaccounted for. Suspicious Deaths Under Investigation

Authorities in Adams County are calling the death of two people there suspicious. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office says they found the body of Sharon Miller on Thursday. Deputies then found Jami Lumby’s body at their home.  No one is saying how the two died, or why the deaths are being investigated as suspicious as of now, as the investigation continues.  The state’s Department of Justice is helping with the case.

Active Crime Scene Declared In Juneau Co.

We are waiting for answers about what investigators in Necedah are calling an ‘active crime scene.’ The Juneau County Sheriff’s Office is not providing any answers about what they found yesterday. There are reports that something at the home Morro’s Mile Road burned. Firefighters were on the scene, but no one is offering any specifics. The sheriff’s office may have more information on just what happened later today.

Lake Altoona Looks to Clean Water

Lake Altoona now has an aqua thruster to try and fight blue green algae. The Lake Altoona District Board says they wanted to try something to keep the lake open more this summer. Blue green algae is deadly for dogs, and can make people sick. The algae closed the lake a couple of times last year. Gov. Evers Declares Disaster After WI Tornadoes

There’s now an official disaster declaration following last week’s tornadoes. Governor Evers issued a disaster order on Friday. The order now makes it easier for local governments to get help from the state to pay for clean-up and emergency response. It also allows the state to call-in the National Guard if need be. Last week’s storms produced nearly a dozen tornadoes across the state, mostly in southern Wisconsin. Janesville and Rock County saw some of the strongest storms.

Story Begins for New Local Library

The new library in Mondovi is officially open. Local leaders cut the ribbon at the library on Saturday. The new library is right across the street from the old library, and has more room for people to work, read, and just get together. Crime Lab Report Shows Slow Turnaround

A new audit raises questions as to whether Wisconsin’s attorney general will be able to meet a new state requirement to get sexual assault kits tested within six months. The Legislative Audit Bureau released its new report on the state’s crime labs. The report says there are fewer requests for sexual assault DNA kits at the crime labs, but it is taking the labs longer to process each kit. The audit says it takes about nine months to  complete a

Green Bay Plans for NFL Draft

The NFL will be in Green Bay this month to take a look at just where next year’s draft will be held. The league is scheduled to meet with local leaders on July 17th to talk about area mapping and security planning. The NFL Draft will be held in Green Bay next April. Escalator Malfunction, Multiple Fans Injured

The Brewers are not yet saying just what happened to one of their escalators that broke while people were riding it on Saturday. The team says 11 people were hurt when one of the escalators that goes from the Terrace Level to the Loge Level broke, and started moving very quickly. Six were taken to the hospital.
