Milwaukee Sees Violent Weekend

Milwaukee’s violent Memorial Day weekend continued yesterday. Police in the city say four people were shot and one of them died. It doesn’t appear that any of the shootings are connected. Milwaukee Police say the only arrest that was made came from the deadly shooting. That shooting happened just before 8:30 last night along Humboldt. A 21-year-old died in the shooting, and a 21-year-old suspect was arrested.

Authorities Seek Suspects in Parking Lot Fight

The sheriff in Dunn County is looking for suspects in a beating at Shooters Showgirls in Elk Mound from back in March. Investigators on Friday released security camera footage from the club that shows five college-aged suspects who deputies say later beat-up a man in the club’s parking lot. Tornado’s Confirmed, Damage Reported

The National Weather Services has confirmed three weak tornadoes from Sunday’s batch of storms. All three were EF-0s, with top wind speeds of just 80 miles-per-hour. There are no reports of any serious injuries, but all three twisters did some damage. The first tornado touched down just west of Janesville, in Footville. The second came down over Lake Koshkonong, and tracked to the southwest side of Fort Atkinson. And the third touched down east of Janesville and moved into southern

Search Continues for Missing Woman

Police in Rice Lake are asking for help in finding a local woman who’s been missing for weeks. The city’s police department took to Facebook yesterday to ask anyone for any information about Melissa Davis. Her family says they haven’t seen or heard from her in weeks. Man Sentenced in Firebombing

A Wisconsin man will spend 18 years in prison for a firebombing. Prosecutors say Elliot Schneider was found guilty for the attack in Fond du Lac that injured one person in 2016. He was already in custody for a child sexual assault case. Schneider will also spend 12 years on probation once his sentence is complete.

FASFA Numbers Did in WI

Fewer federal student loan applications were turned in this year compared to last in Wisconsin. The state Policy Forum says the FAFSA form was available in January of this year, when it was previously open in October. Technical problems were also reported while students and parents were filling out their forms. Madison College reported getting hundreds fewer applications than in previous years.

WI A.G. Joins Pregnant, Post-Partum Workers

Wisconsin’s attorney general, along with 23 other state attorneys general, are supporting proposed rules that would support pregnant and post-partum workers. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission proposed the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. The motion would require accommodations for conditions related to pregnancy, including the termination of a pregnancy. Upgrades Coming For Local Club

A teen center in Eau Claire is under construction. The Boys and Girls Club in Eau Claire was originally built in the forties and was approved for upgrades in 2020. It’ll be the first set of renovations for the building. The project was partially paid for with a million dollars in federal grant money.
