Eau Claire police are investigating a homicide on the north side of Eau Claire.  The Eau Claire Police Department said the incident happened early Saturday morning at a house on Western Avenue.  Police were called just after 2 a.m. about a shooting.  When they arrived, they tried to save the victims life but they were unsuccessful.  A suspect is in custody.  Police say this is an isolated incident and there are no other suspects.  Details on the victim and suspect’s

A man is being sentenced for hiding corpses in Dunn County.  According to court records, 59-year-old Darren Osborne is being ordered to serve 16-years in prison and eight-years extended supervision for hiding a corpse as party to a crime.  The four victims were shot in Saint Paul, Minnesota and their bodies were found in an SUV in a corn field in Sheridan in September 2021.  The other suspect in the case, Antoine Suggs, who is Osborne’s son, turned himself in

The secretary of Wisconsin’s Department of Financial Institutions is starting her last week on the job this morning.  Secretary Cheryll Olson-Collins is retiring, effective February third.  Governor Tony Evers says he could not be more grateful for Olson-Collins’ 18 years of leadership and service to the State of Wisconsin.  Wendy Baumann, longtime president of the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiatives Corporation, will be taking over the DFI secretary role on February 17th.

Crews responded to a home fire on Kohlhepp Road as The Eau Claire Fire Department (ECFD) responded to a structure fire on the City’s West side this morning. Engine 9 and Battalion 1 arrived to find smoke and fire in the basement; the home was occupied at the time of the call and evacuated prior to ECFD arrival. The top-ranked Badgers women’s ice hockey team defeated eleventh-ranked St. Cloud State five-to-two Saturday at LaBahn Ice Arena.  Five different players scored for the Badgers.  The win is the fifth in a row for Wisconsin, which improves to 25-one-and-one.  The two teams face off again this afternoon to wrap up their season series.  The puck drops at 4 p.m. at LaBahn Ice Arena.

A Green Bay Packers coach is in the running to join the Seattle Seahawks. According to C-B-S Sports, Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich is being credited with strengthening its offensive lines to be one of the best in the N-F-L. He has already met with the Seahawks G-M and head coach. Stenavich has a background as an assistant coach in universities and has played college and pro ball.
