Madison County’s covered bridges maybe well known, but a little known fact is that they are also are in dire need of repairs. This is ahead of the upcoming Covered Bridge Festival. The Wisconsin Elections Commission is out with a report that says there were 30 cases of suspected voter fraud or voter irregularities over the past year. More than half of those were cases where people voted twice, and there were a half-dozen cases where felons were caught voting. State Superintendent Jill Underly yesterday said there needs to be a focus on helping local schools deal with everything from phishing attacks to ransomware. She was part of a roundtable on cyber security yesterday. They’re hiring at the police department in La Crosse. More people are seeing moose in northern Wisconsin. The state’s Department of Natural Resources says there’s been an uptick in moose sightings in Burnett and Washburn counties. The DNR says moose are rare in Wisconsin, there are only a couple of dozen in the entire state. Most of them walk over from the UP in Michigan. The body of a man reported missing on Sunday is found near a motorcycle crash scene in Chippewa Falls. Police Chief Ryan Douglas says Matthew Harshman’s body was found near East Pak Avenue. Former Republican Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney will join Democratic Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris this afternoon during a visit to Wisconsin. Cheney, the daughter of former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney, was born in Madison. Both she and her father endorse Harris. Cheney and Harris will speak in Ripon today.
