Marshfield Utilities will close the 300 block of North Peach Avenue Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. through the end of day Friday, November 15, 2024. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is reminding farmers and manure applicators to check the runoff risk advisory forecast before spreading manure on fields. This tool helps determine the potential for manure runoff from a field depending on weather conditions and soil temperature. Users can access this tool at http://www.manureadvisorysystem.wi.gov/runoffrisk/index. The runoff risk advisory forecast ​includes maps showing short-term runoff risk for manure application. The maps account for soil saturation, temperature, and precipitation on a scale of 1.5 square-mile grids.

We now know more about a fatal crash in Chippewa County. On Wednesday 11/13/2024 at 1:41 A.M., the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one vehicle crash where the driver was ejected from the vehicle. Investigation showed that 27 year old Kyle Baker was traveling northbound on Hwy 40 his vehicle left the roadway, entered the ditch, and overturned numerous times. It took about two hours to get an injured hunter out of the woods in Buffalo County. The sheriff’s office says a 32-year-old hunter from Louisiana hurt his leg while climbing a tree in the Tiffany Wildlife Area. Rescue crews managed to get the hunter out of the woods and to an ambulance. He was then taken to Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire with non-life-threatening injuries.

They’re off to a good start with the Christmas Village in Irvine Park. Crews started work on the village way back in September. Chippewa Falls’ parks Director John Jimenez says they’re on track to be ready to open the Christmas Village by Thanksgiving.
