EC Schools See “Yes” Votes from Voters

Voters in Eau Claire have said Yes to the city’s school district’s tax increase. As of early this morning, Eau Claire Area Schools said the referendum for day-to-day operations got about 64 percent of the vote. The tax hike will bring-in 18 million-dollars a year over the next four years. Eau Claire Schools say that 72 million-dollars is earmarked for pay raises, more mental health services, and benefits for teachers and administrators.

Packers Prep Titletown for NFL Draft

The NFL Draft plan for Green Bay is taking shape. The city is out with a map that shows Lambeau Field and the Titletown District will be the focus. We are on the other side of Election Day 2024 and Donald Trump is now the President-Elect. On early Wednesday, the Republican candidate secured more than enough electoral votes to win Tuesday’s general election. Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris to become only the second President in U.S. history to be elected to non-consecutive terms. In a victory speech, Trump said America is about to enter a golden age, and vowed to deliver a prosperous America.

HyVee Returns to Checkout Lanes

HyVee is removing self-checkouts from several stores.  The Des Moines-based grocer didn’t provide a list of locations where self-checkouts will be taken out but says the goal is to increase face-to-face interaction with customers.  Two Iowa women were recently charged with theft for mis-scanning items on several occasions at multiple HyVee locations.

National Retail Theft Ring has WI Connections

Three men are under arrest and accused of being part of a national retail theft group. Pleasant Prairie Police got a tip that the group would likely target a Nike store in Oshkosh. The three were arrested, and officers say three-thousand dollars of stolen merchandise was found on them. The group is accused of stealing 54-thousand dollars of products in at least eighteen states, including Wisconsin.

It’s here. Election Day 2024 is upon us. More than a million-and-a-half people have already voted in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Elections Commission yesterday said the early vote total includes 950 thousand people who voted in-person this year. Wisconsin’s early vote numbers are far below 2020’s numbers, but that early vote was skewed by COVID. The Elections Commission says this year’s numbers are better than 2012 and 2016. Bond Set in Deadly Crash

It’s a quarter-million dollars bond for the man accused of running down a road worker in Monroe County last week. A judge yesterday set Isaac Morales, Jr’s bond at 250-thousand-dollars. Authorities say Morales was drunk when he crashed into a man working a road surfacing machine on I-90 last week. That same crash saw Morales hit a semi truck as well. He’s due back in court in the case in December.

DMV Extends Hours on Election Day

You’re getting some extra time to grab a last-second voter ID. The DMV says it will stay open til 6 p.m. today for anyone who needs an ID to vote.  Everyone in Wisconsin needs an ID to vote, and the DMV says voter IDs are free. The head of the Wisconsin Elections Commission says people can register at the polls on Election Day as long as they have an ID, and proof that they live in Wisconsin. CLICK FOR MORE.
