Suspect at Large, Triple Homicide Investigation Continues

An investigation continues into a triple homicide in New Lisbon.  Police say 33-year-old Elizabeth Kolb and two girls, ages 12 and 13, were found dead in a New Lisbon home on Monday.  Virgil Thew has been charged in the incident.  He is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

Health Care Merger Complete

Sanford Health and Marshfield Clinic Health System have completed their merger.  They’re no one nonprofit integrated health system operating at Sanford Health.   According to a press release, both organizations’  respective health plans, Sanford Health Plan and Security Health Plan, will continue their current operations.   The goal of the merger is to “advance world-class care across the rural Midwest.”  More information is available on the Marshfield Clinic Health System website WITH AN EASY CLICK HERE.

Three Packers Voted to Pro Bowl Games

Three Packers players are being honored for their play this season.  Running back Josh Jacobs, safety Xavier McKinney and defensive end Rashan Gary were all voted to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games.  Jacobs earned this third selection after rushing for nearly 13-hundred yards and a career-best 14 touchdowns this season.  McKinney was chosen for his first Pro Bowl after posting a seven-interception debut season With Green Bay and Gary registered 44 tackles and a team-high six and a half sacks

Residents of Dunn County Log into 2025 with Improved Internet Services

“The Dunn County Board of Supervisors has devoted a lot of resources to bring broadband everywhere in the county,” said Dan Dunbar, Assistant County Manager and Chief Information Officer.  “We are now seeing the benefits of that investment.”  The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced in December that Bloomer Telephone Co. is receiving a $4.6 million grant and a $4.6 million loan to bring high-speed internet to 1,278 people, 32 businesses and 73 farms in Dunn and Chippewa counties.  Dunbar said this announcement addresses one of the few remaining areas

Officer Reynolds Remembered

 A candlelight vigil to remember and honor Dunn County Sheriff’s Correctional Officer Jeff Reynolds was held last night.  He was killed in a Christmas Eve crash as he was headed to work at the county jail.  Dozens of friends, co-workers, and relatives gathered in the cold to share stories of Reynolds.  He had been with the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office since 2007, and Mark Sokolowski is charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Lead Pipe Inventory Dries Up, Deadline Missed

The city of Altoona has failed to meet a deadline last year to complete an inventory of its lead service lines.  Public Works director Scott Kwick says it was his mistake that it didn’t get done by October 16th, 2024 and says the inventory was submitted with lines left blank instead of putting in “unknown.”  He says they got “most of the inventory done, but it was just incomplete.”

Respiratory Illness On Rise, Restrictions Considered
