Police in Whitewater, Wisconsin are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a student who was a college gymnastics national champion. The body of 21-year-old University of Wisconsin-Whitewater student Kara Welsh was found with multiple gunshot wounds in an apartment near the campus shortly before midnight on Friday. Engine 10 and Medic 10 arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the basement of the residence.
