Area construction companies are learning more about the Foxconn project. A second informational session happened yesterday afternoon at CVTC in Eau Claire.  Officials talked with construction-related companies about becoming a vendor, subcontractor, supplier, or professional service provider for the manufacturing campus in Racine County.

An eleven-year-old child is back with his family after  K9 Leo and officers found the boy near Eleva. Word is the child got lost yesterday evening after arguing with family members and leaving the house in an unfamiliar area.  Nearly two hours later, K9 Leo was deployed and tracked him down within 15 minutes.  The child was okay and returned to his family. Trempealeau County Sheriff Richard Anderson recognized K9 officer Leo, his handler Sergeant Travis McDonah and Deputy Joel Dregney

The books need to stretch their spines…An Eau Claire library is turning the pages on an expansion project. The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library wants to add a third floor and expand its lower level.  Officials say the library moved into the building in 1976 and as you can imagine, things have changed a little bit since then.  The last renovation happened in 2009 to expand youth services.

It will soon be curtain close and final bow for The State Theatre. The historic downtown Eau Claire theater is hosting a bittersweet final run-last night was the last opening night for the play Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and that will run through the 29th before the theater closes down…no encore.

The tariffs are TARI-ble? Many Wisconsin farmers remain critical of President Trump’s tariffs, saying the trade war they’ve set off has tanked prices on farm products. Trump has announced a 12-billion dollar plan that would borrow money from the U.S. Treasury to pay producers of some crops, including corn, soybeans, dairy and, pork. A change of venue is being requested in the case of a woman accused of allowing men to sexually assault two children in exchange for drugs and money.  Michelle Mayer appeared in court yesterday in Eau Claire County related to the request filed by the defense.  The hearing for the change of venue motion is scheduled for a month from now, August 27th.

A familiar date night favorite will soon change hands. Taverna will no longer be Taverna. The owners-who also own familiar favs-Draganetti’s Ristorante, and Za 51 Pizzeria-recently announced that Taverna Grill has been purchased by two former employees and is expected to reopen in September with a new name, look, and menu. Taverna Grill’s last day of business will be TODAY. (Yeah, as in TODAY…Wednesday July 25th!) And yep, you can plan to get some last chance deals and steals.

The jackpot was up to 522-million-dollars, which was the fifth largest Mega Millions jackpot ever, their piggy bank just porked up with over 300-million-dollars if they take the cash option.  So far, it’s not known if
