SEVERAL INJURED ON WESTSIDE CRASH

Several people are hurt after a two-vehicle crash on Eau Claire’s westside.  Police say an SUV going north on Clairemont Avenue ran a red light and hit a second SUV going east on Moholt Drive, causing it to roll twice. The first driver had minor injuries and was sent to the hospital.  The second driver along with two children in the vehicle had minor injuries.  The accident remains under investigation.

EC MAN ACCUSED OF SEXUAL ASSAULTING CHILD

An Eau Claire man is accused of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl.  Court records show 19-year-old Jason Weber was charged with one count of sexual assault of a child younger than 16.  Weber is due back in court in December.

RUDY SCORES BIG IN EC

The inspiration for the movie Rudy is sharing his message in the Chippewa Valley.  Daniel Rudy Ruettiger [Roo-te-gur] was in Eau Claire yesterday as the keynote speaker for the Annual Gala for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin.  He spoke to the crowd about staying positive and getting away from negative people.  Ruettiger played just 27 seconds of college football at Notre Dame, but became known for his persistence.

WAUSAU SCHOOL EMPLOYEE INVESTIGATED FOR PROSTITUTION RING

A Wausau School District employee is under investigation by the district after being caught up in a prostitution sting.  The district confirmed to WSAW-TV that Michael Schwei [[ Shway ]] was one of eight people cited in a sting in mid-October.  Shwei was fined over 19-hundred-dollars for soliciting a prostitute, which is not a criminal charge.  Shwei is the Director of Human Resources and Employee Relations for the district and also served as the interim superintendent last year.

VOTING SCAM WARNING AHEAD OF ELECTIONS

In the closing days before the mid-term elections the Better Business Bureau has a new scam warning.  The BBB advises anyone called to be polled or surveyed in Wisconsin not to give out personal information.  Pollsters may ask how you intend to vote or about your political affiliation, but they should never ask for money or your personal information.

After an extensive effort, authorities are scaling back the ground search for missing teenager Jayme Closs.  The 13-year-old has been missing since October 15th when her parents were found shot to death in the family home near Barron.  Police believe Jamie was abducted.  They say there are fewer leads regarding her disappearance, so they will concentrate on a more methodical approach to the investigation.
