DCI CHILD ABDUCTION RESPONSE TEAM JOINS EFFORT TO FIND JAYME CLOSS

Attorney General Brad Schimel says over 60 staff members from the DCI, Child Abduction Response Team, the crime lab and victim services are on the ground assisting with the search for a 13-year-old Barron County girl.  Jayme Closs has been missing since Monday when her parents were found dead in their home.  Authorities plan to give an update on the status of the investigation later this afternoon.

ARRESTS MADE IN UW- OSHKOSH THEFTS

Seven people, including three men from Oshkosh and four juveniles, are under arrest for several burglaries near the UW-Oshkosh campus.  The suspects are accused of stealing from homes, cars and garages after finding many unlocked or with open windows.  Police say locking cars and homes is a first line of defense and people have to make it tougher for thieves to victimize them.

SENATOR BALDWIN CALLS FOR WORKER ENGAGEMENT

Senator Tammy Baldwin is calling on the Securities and Exchange Commission to consider implementing reforms to promote worker engagement.  Baldwin suggests giving workers a greater voice in public companies by allowing them to be elected as company board members.  Baldwin and a dozen Senate colleagues say research shows that company boards with worker representation make better resource allocation decisions.  The group of Senators wants the SEC to talk about the merits of directly electing workers to company boards.

WOOD STOVE FIRE DAMAGES HOME IN ADAMS

A fired that damaged a home started in the chimney. Crews were called to the fire at a home on Beaver Lane in the Town of Adams yesterday (Wednesday) just after noon. The fire was spotted by a tree service in the yard cutting down a tree who let the owner know. They were home, but not aware of the fire as it was in the attic. BARRON IN NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT; SEARCH FOR ANSWERS CONTINUES

Local police are providing updates on the nationwide search for 13-year-old Jayme Closs who went missing after her parents were found murdered inside their home Monday.  Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald says they’re continuing to get tips around the clock.  Closs’ family members were also at the sheriff’s briefing, visibly shaken, calling Jayme a totally sweet, innocent girl.  An AMBER Alert was issued for Jayme after someone at the Closs house called 9-1-1, leading to the discovery of the bodies.

MAN CHARGED WITH RAPING SLEEPING ROOMMATE

An Eau Claire man is being charged after his roommate says he raped her.  Daniel Chase faces charges of second-degree sexual assault and felony intimidation of a victim.  The criminal complaint says that the victim took a sleeping pill in February and woke to find Chase having sex with her. If convicted on all charges, Chance faces more than 50 years in prison.

EC MAN FACING PRISON TIME FOR CHILD PORN

A man charged with several counts of possessing child pornography is facing prison time. Thomas Kent was sentenced yesterday to six years in prison and six years of extended supervision.  An investigation showed Kent was sharing child porn from a motel room and that his computer was actively downloading porn at the time of his arrest.

RECORD HIGH JOB OPENINGS

The number of job openings is running at a record high.  The Labor Department says there were more than seven million unfilled positions in the U.S. economy in August.  The number of hires also hit an all-time high for the month.  Most of the job openings were in transportation, professional and business services, along with the leisure and hospitality industries.

NATIONWIDE SEARCH CONTINUES FOR BARRON COUNTY TEEN

A nationwide search for a Barron County teenager considered endangered continues.  The FBI is involved in the search for 13-year-old Jayme Closs, who has been missing since yesterday (Monday October 15th)  and is considered endangered.  Police say her parents were found dead in the family home around 1:00 Monday morning. An AMBER Alert has been issued and there have been reports that someone spotted a girl in Miami who looked like the teen.
